Zone Diet meal plan, near 40/30/30 a day.
The Zone Diet asks for about 40% of calories from carbs, 30% from protein and 30% from fat at every meal. This week shows what that looks like at about 1,850 calories a day, with 28 meals and the numbers for each. Alma can fit it to your goal.

Questions
What people ask
What is the Zone Diet?
A plan that sets every meal and snack at about 40% of calories from carbohydrate, 30% from protein and 30% from fat. It favors lean protein, vegetables and fruit low on the glycemic index, and monounsaturated fats like olive oil.
What does 40/30/30 mean in practice?
At 1,850 calories a day, that is roughly 185 grams of carbohydrate, 139 grams of protein and 62 grams of fat. On the plate it looks like a palm-size piece of protein, plenty of vegetables, a piece of fruit and a spoon of olive oil or a few nuts.
How many calories is this meal plan?
About 1,800 to 1,910 calories a day, with 117 to 146 grams of protein and 187 to 225 grams of carbohydrates. Every meal is estimated from USDA FoodData Central values for the portions listed.
Does the Zone Diet work better than other balanced diets?
The evidence does not show that a 40/30/30 split beats other balanced patterns. Harvard’s Nutrition Source says research comparing diets built on macronutrient ratios is largely inconclusive, and that food quality matters most.
Do I need special products to eat this way?
No. Every meal here uses ordinary groceries from the shopping list, sized by hand: a palm of protein, a fist of vegetables, a piece of fruit and a thumb of olive oil or a small handful of nuts. Nothing in this week depends on a branded product.
Can I follow a Zone-style plan as a vegetarian?
Yes. Replace the meat and fish with tofu, tempeh, lentils, beans and Greek yogurt, and keep the same shape: a protein portion, plenty of vegetables, a piece of fruit and a little olive oil or nuts. Protein adds up quickly with dairy and legumes.
How does Alma help with a Zone-style plan?
Log a meal by photo, voice or text in about 10 seconds, and every meal gets an Alma Score from 0 to 100, drawing on Harvard’s Alternate Healthy Eating Index. Alma builds a plan around your goal and the foods you like. It is not affiliated with the Zone Diet.
