Candida diet plan, without the hype.

The WHO says the evidence for strict candida diets is limited, and antifungal medicine is the usual care for an infection. A low sugar week only cuts added sugar and refined starch. Here is a real week at about 1,800 calories. Alma can fit it to your goal.

Built from CDC and WHO guidance on candidiasis advice.

The rules

Three honest rules for this week

  • Added sugar goes first

Sugary drinks, sweets and syrup out. Fruit stays on the table.

  • Protein through the day

Eggs, fish, chicken, beans and plain yogurt at most meals.

  • Vegetables fill half the plate

Lunch and dinner start with vegetables, then protein and a whole grain.

Questions

What people ask

Does the candida diet actually work?

There is little good evidence that it does. The WHO fact sheet says some people follow strict diets to limit yeast overgrowth, but the scientific evidence for their effectiveness is limited. The CDC says antifungal medicines are used for candidiasis. A low sugar week is a reasonable eating pattern, and no more than that.

What is candida overgrowth?

Candida is a yeast that naturally lives in the body and on the skin. The CDC says candidiasis occurs when it grows out of control. Common types are vaginal yeast infections and thrush in the mouth or throat.

What can you eat on an anti-candida diet?

Vegetables, eggs, fish, chicken, beans, lentils, plain yogurt, nuts and whole grains, with fruit in normal amounts. This week is built from exactly that, at about 1,800 calories a day. It keeps added sugar and refined starch low without cutting out whole food groups.

Is fruit allowed on a candida diet?

Yes. Fruit has natural sugar, and some strict versions of the diet cut it out, but the WHO fact sheet calls the evidence behind strict yeast-avoiding diets limited. Whole fruit also brings fiber, which a low sugar week needs. This plan keeps one to three servings a day and drops added sugar instead.

Can a yeast infection be a sign of diabetes?

It can be. The CDC lists unmanaged diabetes as a risk factor for vaginal yeast infections and for thrush, and the WHO says uncontrolled diabetes, with persistently high blood sugar, can promote yeast growth. If infections keep coming back, ask your clinician whether testing your blood sugar makes sense.

How many calories is this meal plan?

About 1,700 to 1,900 calories a day, with 95 to 135 grams of protein and 32 to 38 grams of fiber, and almost no added sugar. Needs vary with your size, age and activity, so scale portions up or down. The sugar calculator can show you where added sugar hides.

Can Alma help me follow this plan?

Log a meal by photo, voice or text in about 10 seconds. Each meal gets an Alma Score from 0 to 100, drawing on Harvard’s Alternate Healthy Eating Index, and the sugar and fiber totals show how a day landed. Alma also builds a plan around your goal and the foods you like.
