Saturated fat calculator
Turn a percentage of calories into grams you can compare with a nutrition label.
How this tool works
Grams of saturated fat = daily calories × percentage ÷ 100 ÷ 9. The default 6% reference comes from American Heart Association guidance, which recommends less than 6%. The result is a boundary, not a target to fill.A worked example
At 1,800 calories, 6% is 108 calories, or 12 g of saturated fat. If you have eaten 8 g, the difference to that boundary is 4 g.Before you use the result
The calorie input is a reference for arithmetic, not a recommended intake. Follow an individualized target if your clinician has given you one. Reducing saturated fat does not mean avoiding all dietary fat.Does this measure dietary cholesterol?
No. Saturated fat and dietary cholesterol are different label entries. This tool works only with saturated fat. What should replace saturated fat?
The American Heart Association recommends replacing it with unsaturated fats, rather than treating all fats as interchangeable.Sources
