Protein per 100 calories calculator
Compare two foods on the same energy basis, even when their serving sizes are different.
How this tool works
Protein per 100 calories = protein grams ÷ calories × 100. Calories for 25 g protein = calories ÷ protein grams × 25. Enter protein and calories from the same serving.A worked example
A food with 20 g protein and 200 calories provides 10 g protein per 100 calories. A food with 15 g protein and 100 calories provides 15 g per 100 calories.Before you use the result
Protein density is one comparison, not a health score. Fiber, fats, sodium, price, allergies, and enjoyment still matter. Package rounding introduces small differences.Should I use values per serving or per 100 g?
Either works. For each food, use protein and calories from the same portion. The tool normalizes them. Why can a nutritious food have a lower protein density?
Foods also supply fats, carbohydrates, and micronutrients. A lower protein ratio does not make a food a poor choice.Sources
