Soluble fiber food calculator

Soluble fiber rarely appears on food labels. Use food-based ranges to see what your chosen servings may contribute.

How this tool works

Each serving uses the soluble-fiber range in the National Lipid Association handout. The calculator adds the lower and upper bounds separately. A range is more honest than a precise decimal from variable foods.

A worked example

A half cup of cooked oats contributes about 1–2 g soluble fiber. A half cup of beans contributes about 1–3 g. Together, the estimate is 2–5 g.

Before you use the result

This estimates food content, not a cholesterol reduction or supplement dose. Increase fiber gradually and follow prescribed dietary restrictions. Beans and other choices may not suit every person with IBS.

Can I derive soluble fiber from total fiber on a label?

Not reliably. The split varies by food. This tool uses listed food estimates instead of applying a fixed percentage.

Will this predict my LDL change?

No. Your response depends on your overall diet, genetics, medication, and other factors. Use lab results and your clinician’s advice.
