Snacks with protein, without a shake
Use a familiar protein food as the starting point, then pair it with something you like. No snack is required, and there is no single protein target that fits everyone.
Food ideas and checks
- Yogurt and berries
- Choose the yogurt style and portion you enjoy. Check added sugar and protein on the pot.
- Cottage cheese and crackers
- Add cucumber or tomato for crunch. Sodium differs between brands.
- Edamame
- Keep a ready-to-heat bag in the freezer. Follow the cooking directions on the bag.
- Egg and toast
- Use a refrigerated, fully cooked egg. Store and handle eggs safely.
- Chickpeas and fruit
- Try roasted chickpeas with an apple. Compare salt on packaged versions.
- Hummus and pita
- Add carrots or another vegetable. Not an equal-protein swap for every other option.
